The Lands of the Bible—A Thematic Guide. The Promised Land, the Road to Damascus, the Walls of Jericho, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Tower of Babel are all biblical references used in common parlance that recall locations mentioned in the Bible.. The geography of the Bible is a rich and intricate field of study. Putting the text of the Bible into context can be a complicated. The following is a list of burial places attributed to biblical figures according to various religious and local traditions. The locations listed are not based on factual evidence, but rather locations mentioned in the text of the Bible or oral traditions of indigenous peoples.

The Canaanite Cities Following the Exodus, the Bible says that a great warrior, Joshua, leads the Israelites into the Promised Land with a blitzkrieg military campaign. Does archeology back up.   At Numeira, a town smaller than Bab edh-Dhra, the city wall was found to be about 4 m (13 ft) wide. Inside were houses very much like those at Bab edh-Dhra. It appears that the residents of Numeira buried their dead in the enormous cemetery at Bab edh-Dhra since no cemetery was discovered at Numeira.

A lost city is a settlement that fell into terminal decline and became extensively or completely uninhabited, with the consequence that the site's former significance was no longer known to the wider world. The locations of many lost cities have been forgotten, but some have been rediscovered and studied extensively by scientists. Recently abandoned cities or cities whose location was never in.   The excavations at Khirbet Al-Rai revealed large stone structures, the remnants of an ancient city dating to between the 12th and 11th centuries B.C. Artifacts found among the city .

While Fawcett’s lost city of Z has never been found, numerous ancient cities and remains of religious sites have been uncovered in recent years in the jungles of Guatemala, Brazil, Bolivia and Honduras.
